Prof. Lee gave an invited talk titled 'Episodic Accretion in Star and Planet Formation' in the first plenary session. Jaeyeong Kim, Hee-Weon Yi, Hyeong-Sik Yun, Sung-Yong Yoon, Yong-Hee Lee and Beomdu Lim gave oral presentations. Neha Sharma, Giseon Baek and In Kang gave poster presentations in the meeting.
ALMA Townhall meeting (March, 2019)
The KASI ALMA group visited KHU for the ALMA Townhall meeting. In the meeting, the KASI ALMA group members, Dr. Jongsoo Kim, Dr. Aran Lyo, and Dr. Jihyun Kang gave presentations on the ALMA science highlights, the ALMA proposers' guide, and the ALMA archival data mining. We also discussed about the ALMA proposals that the KHU star formation group members are preparing.
Ice compositions of
a protoplanetary disk was revealed by its stellar outburst (February, 2019)
In a paper published in Nature Astronomy, we report the discovery of 7 Complex Organic Molecules (COMs) in V883 Ori, an outbursting disk source. The chemical composition of ices in disks is of special interest for planetary formation, since ices can make comets and could carry volatiles to Earth-like planets. While the direct observation of ices in disks is difficult, fresh sublimates created during outbursts reveal the ice composition. According to our analysis, the abundances of COMs in the disk of V883 Ori are similar to those of comets.
Joint Workshop held Jes Jørgensen with (November, 2018)
Our group held a meeting with Jes Jørgensen on November 12th at the Kyung Hee University. Jes Jørgensen is an associate professor of Univ. Copenhagen, and a leading scientist in astrochemistry. He also gave a seminar, "Exploring the Complex Chemistry of Embedded Protostars", on November 13th
The wild duck delivers its secrets (November, 2018)
We still have a question whether star clusters comprise a simple stellar population with the same origin or not. Open clusters, in general, have insufficient total masses to host multiple generations of stars. However, interestingly, the Galactic open cluster Messier 11 (wild duck cluster) shows a large spread in colors of stars at main sequence turn-off, which is reminiscent of a color anomaly by the presence of multiple stellar population. We analyzed the high-resolution optical spectra of about 100 stars and found that this color spread originates from a wide range of stellar rotational velocities. Our results indicate that such a color spread found in young star clusters can be understood in the context of stellar evolution considering the effects of rotation, rather than the presence of multiple stellar populations. This paper was published in Nature Astronomy.

Paper of negative stellar feedback in the λ Orionis cloud published (June, 2018)
This paper investigates that the λ Orionis cloud which contains a well-known OB association “λ Ori” has been suffered a negative stellar feedback. High energy photons from the massive stars (λ Ori) can photo-evaporate dense material and lead to lower column densities, masses, and multiplicities of cores in the λ Orionis cloud compared to those of Orion A and B clouds.
